2016 Bay Area Fun Festival Parade Grand Marshals
The Bay Area Fun Festival is proud to announce the 2016 Parade Grand Marshals. The honor has been bestowed to two great people who have worked tirelessly to improve our community. The parade will take place in downtown Coos Bay starting at 1:00pm on Saturday September 17.
Martin Callery retired as Chief Commercial Officer with the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay in late summer of 2015 after a 23-year career with the port district. His responsibilities with the Port included marketing and communications, government relations, maritime commerce and transportation advocacy, and marine and industrial development activities. During his last nine years with the Port, Martin was a team leader for the Port’s successful effort of acquiring and rehabilitating the Coos Bay rail line, and engaging ARG Transportation Services Inc., operating as Coos Bay Rail Link-CBR, to provide freight rail service to western Lane, western Douglas and Coos Counties.
Tom Foster was a railroader for 50 years, and actually retired twice. His recent retirement was from ARG Transportation Services Inc., where he was Vice President – Marketing, after serving as the first General Manager of Coos Bay Rail Link-CBR. During his five-years with CBR, Tom was instrumental in working with customers to grow rail traffic from 194 carloads in 2011 to more than 7,000 the past two years, and in securing Short Line Railroad of the Year for 2014. Tom began his rail career in 1966 in his native Ohio for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway and then held transportation and marketing posts with railroads across the U.S., including the Chicago and North Western, the Southern Pacific and the Puget Sound & Pacific.
